Sometimes working at home starts with the right break. If you live in NY, have a sophisticated palette, and would like to break into freelance writing… this may be the opportunity you’ve been waiting for.
Writing/Editing Internship for a popular NYC food blog (West Village)
Popular NYC food blogger is looking for an intern to assist in the writing and editing responsibilities involved with the publication of her blog. The intern will support an effort toward blog expansion across several platforms, including: brand development, marketing outreach and the weekly publication of a new concept in “food entertainment.” We are developing an interactive website and webseries to be packaged into a television pitch, focusing on the lives of New York foodies.
We are seeking a dedicated intern who is skilled in creative writing and has the necessary background to assist with brand development in several key areas of growth, including: maintaining social networking sites, developing original material for seasonal newsletters and weekly blog posts, and representing our signature voice across the food blogging community. This is an excellent hands-on opportunity to utilize your writing & editing skills, and join a team of food & writing professionals with a readership of over 4K.
Candidates must possess the following to qualify for this internship:
• Interest in Food: you must enjoy eating, cooking, dining and writing about food, though professional experience is not necessary.
• Strong Communication Skills: you must write and speak clearly, and be available via email M-F.
• Knowledge of New York City: you must have a working knowledge of the food scene and general culture in NYC to write about it with authority.
• Sophisticated Palette and Conscientious Consumption: you must care about the taste and quality of what you eat and drink. This is an extraordinary opportunity to work in new media and gain insight into the food and entertainment industries. Successful interns will gain recommendations from company executives.
Ideal candidate will be able to work independently from his or her own computer at a remote location of his or her preference. Hours are completely flexible and part-time. Most communication is handled via email. Candidate should be a self-starter capable of handling a variety of tasks, both creative and mundane. We are a small crew with a lot on our plates (so to speak) so please do not apply if you are not committed to following through.
This is an unpaid internship, so we’re looking for those interested in building their portfolios/resumes and realizing their creative input with an exciting new online venture.
Interested candidates should email a resume, cover letter and writing sample for consideration.
Sure, it’s an unpaid internship, but you gotta start somewhere and working for free is still work that you can put into your writing portfolio and on your resume! See the original post to apply.
sounds like a great opportunity! Thanks for posting it!
You are correct. This is indeed an extraordinary opportunity. Unfortunately, for those who are not in NY and are actually interested, it would be sad.
That’s the truth, Sophie. I myself love the idea of getting paid to eat at NY Restaurants but (1) I don’t live there and (2) I can’t really call myself a savvy food connoisseur. I just like eating out!
Wow. I smell a great opportunity for my friend. I’ll let her know about this part-time job. Thanks for posting it. 😉
