SmartBrief is seeking a freelance writer to edit online business and consumer news publications on a fill-in basis only. If you love the challenges of writing about different industries, and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-intensive work environment, you’ll fit right in. Job duties include searching for news and writing two- to three-sentence summaries of the news under tight deadlines. Looking for two to three years experience as a writer or reporter.
This is a telecommuting position; applicant must be able to work anytime between 1 a.m. and 9 a.m. EST for several hours per assignment date. Total number of hours will not usually exceed 30 hours per month. Flexibility is key!
Applicants will be asked to take a timed writing test.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Two years of experience as a journalist, reporter or proven writing and editing skills.
- Knowledge of AP style.
- Ability to write quickly and accurately on deadline.
- Facility for using online publishing tools.
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills.
