The White House and Environmental Protection Agency Keynote at Spring Telework Exchange Town Hall Meeting

ALEXANDRIA, Va. – Telework Exchange, a public-private partnership focused on promoting telework across government, announced its Spring 2010 Telework Exchange Town Hall Meeting keynote speakers and program line up. Kareem Dale, Special Assistant to the President for Disability Policy, the White House and Bob Perciasepe, Deputy administrator, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), will deliver the keynote addresses at the Spring Telework Exchange Town Hall Meeting – “Moving Beyond 10 Percent Teleworking.” The Town Hall Meeting will take place at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington, D.C. on Thursday, April 8, 2010. Registration is complimentary for government employees.

Kareem Dale will kick off the Spring Town Hall Meeting with the morning keynote address, titled “Reducing Unemployment for People with Disabilities.” Mr. Dale will discuss how the Federal government’s telework initiatives can offer Americans with disabilities unprecedented job opportunities.

Bob Perciasepe, Deputy Administrator for the EPA, will deliver the luncheon keynote titled, “Reducing Government’s Carbon Footprint.” Mr. Perciasepe will discuss the role telework plays in promoting environmental stewardship and steps EPA is taking to ensure the Federal government leads by example.

Consisting of two tracks, the Spring Town Hall Meeting program will explore telework policies, performance, management, and technology for executive management, human resources, and IT professionals. Sessions include:

Track 1 – Remote Workforce Technology

  • Session 1-1: Technology Matters Part 1 – Making the Most of Existing Technology
  • Session 1-2: Technology Matters Part 2 – Integrating New Technology

Track 2 – Managing Telework

  • Session 2-1: Managing Today’s Workforce
  • Session 2-2: Effective Strategies for Labor Relations
  • Joint Session 3: Making the Connection – Pandemic Lessons from Management and IT Perspectives

“The blizzards of 2010 highlight the importance of telework, more than ever, in the Federal government,” said Cindy Auten, General Manager, Telework Exchange. “President Obama is committed, calling for 50 percent of eligible Federal employees to telework by 2011.
