Your boss calls you in his office today and hands you a $2,500.00 bonus check because the company had a good year. Are you thankful?

You go in for your 20 week ultrasound. As you watch your growing baby on the screen, the doctor informs you that everything looks great. Your baby boy is healthy. Are you thankful?

Your husband comes home with a dozen roses. He remembered your anniversary! Are you thankful?

Of course you are. It’s easy to be thankful when everything is going great. When we’re on top of the mountain, and we’re having a beautiful day and our blessings are easy to see, we are thankful. And we should be. >>Continue reading Seeing Life through Gratitude Glasses

I am really excited about something we’re doing this year on Thanksgiving Day and thought I’d share it here. No, it’s not eating turkey and pumpkin pie – though I am really looking forward to that, too. For the first time since we created it back in 2003, we’re about to crack open our blessing box and read through eight or so years worth of thankful thoughts. >>Continue reading Thankful Thoughts

“If you can imagine it, You can achieve it, If you can dream it, You can become it.” -William Arthur Ward

Setting goals gives a target to aim for and provides focus for where you going and how you intend to get there. When it comes to building a life the average person spends more time planning their annual vacation than they do in planning their… >>Continue reading Goals - Your Roadmap to the Future

Rich as it is, the relationship between personal and professional life can be rocky and maintaining the work life balance is often a tricky issue. I experienced this recently when, within a few weeks of declaring some audacious goals for my business, a routine mammogram turned up some abnormalities. In the following weeks I had additional mammography, a biopsy, and surgery, with the happy outcome that the abnormalities were benign. I wanted to put the experience behind me and get back to work, full speed ahead.

Here are nine strategies that, taken together, can help to change course without abandoning the destination and help you restore your work life balance . . . >>Continue reading 9 Strategies For Regaining Your Work Life Balance

Last week I wrote about a pretty unique telecommuting job opening at IWearYourShirt.com, so this week I thought it might be fun to share one of Jason Sadler’s videos since it’s all the pros and cons of telecommuting.

IWearYourShirt.com has built a pretty neat business around the idea of donning a sponsor’s t-shirt and then schmoozing socially to sing the praises of the sponsor. The shirt wearers all have pretty demanding responsibilities and work from their respective homes, so they totally get how working from home isn’t always as easy as it seems. >>Continue reading Jason Sadler's Pros and Cons of Telecommuting

Working from home is great. Where else can you work in your pajamas while simultaneously not having to worry about hopping in your car to fight morning traffic? However, there are a few downsides to working at home. The home is your comfort zone, and it’s pretty easy to get distracted in front of the TV or simply by tinkering around the house. To ensure that you are getting the most out of your work day, consider doing the following to avoid distractions . . . >>Continue reading Avoiding Distractions in Your Home Office

Are You Brandwashed?

Martin Lindstrom – Fan of the Consumer

September 5, 2011 · 0 comments

As a general rule, I hate dealing with sales people in stores… particularly when it comes to buying hardware and electronics. I much prefer ‘smart’ researching online and chatting with friends about whatever product (or service for that matter) I find myself in need of.

Check out this video of a salesman in a tech store who’s trying to push his own brand (Lemon) to the poor consumers who… >>Continue reading Are You Brandwashed?

Running a business isn’t easy, but that’s one of the reasons why people do it. If being successful were simple, then everyone would do it. Running your own business comes with its own set of challenges. When you’re a one-person company, you can’t rely on anyone else to get the work done. You’ll fly or fall under your own strength and keeping everything together can be quite the task. Getting through the daily demands requires a lot of the individual that often comes from sheer determination. Jess Wagner provides a list of some of the things to keep in mind when you’re going over your daily routine and trying to keep everything in order. >>Continue reading Day To Day Operations: Tips Towards Organizing Your Home Business

The New Year always brings to mind thoughts of improving my constantly-in-the-works organization tactics. The more organized you can be, the easier working at home is. It’s not always easy to balance both working and living in the same space and keeping both sides organized is super helpful for obvious reasons.

If you’ve decided to telecommute and are a tad bit worried because you’re not very organized, you’re certainly… >>Continue reading 5 Truisms of Staying Organized Throughout The Year

At least some of them do, thanks to Amit Gupta, Luke Crawford, and their friends. They’re credited with the creation of casual, co-working events known as Jellies!

Jelly logoSince its inception in 2006, Jelly groups have been forming around the world, with many people praising the added social components it affords without all the office politics. If you work at home you know that sometimes you can feel pretty darned isolated. And if you’re looking to work at home, but worried about missing the social aspect of working in an office, take heart. Jellies might just be your answer. >>Continue reading Musicians Jam - Telecommuters Jelly
